Our mission
Most people have been taught to be passive about their own health — to wait until something breaks, then hand the problem to someone else and hope for the best. We think that's backwards.
The Optimal Health Manifesto exists to put you back in the driver's seat. Our mission is to teach you how functional health actually works — how your body, your labs, your lifestyle, and targeted tools like peptides fit together — so you can take your power back and dramatically improve how you feel and function. Not with hype, not with miracle claims, but with evidence-based lifestyle and supplementation strategies explained in plain English.
"Functional" means we care about why a system isn't working, not just silencing the symptom. "Manifesto" means we're taking a stand: that you are capable of understanding your own physiology, that honest information beats marketing, and that the right knowledge — paired with the right professional support when you need it — can change the trajectory of your health.
Why we built this
Peptides are one of the most promising and fastest-moving areas in health right now — and also one of the most confusing and most over-hyped. The internet is full of two kinds of voices: sellers who'll tell you anything to make a sale, and gatekeepers who treat you like you can't handle the truth. Neither one respects you.
We built this site to be the third option: clear, honest, research-backed, and beginner-friendly. We grade the evidence instead of cherry-picking it. We tell you when something is well-supported and when it's still experimental. We're open about the fact that many peptides discussed here are research-use-only and not FDA-approved for human use. And we're upfront about how we make money. You deserve to make decisions with the full picture.
What you can do here
This isn't a blog you read once and forget. It's a working toolkit. Here's what's waiting for you:
Learn from Pep, our AI peptide guide. Pep is a conversational assistant trained on our own continuously updated knowledge base. Ask it anything — what a peptide does, how the evidence stacks up, what to read next — and it answers in plain language, grounded in our library and citing its sources. It's the fastest way to go from "I have no idea" to "now I understand."
Research the peptide encyclopedia. Every peptide we cover is explained in plain English and graded by the strength of the evidence behind it — so you can tell the difference between "proven," "promising," and "still a question mark" at a glance.
Build your own protocol. Our protocol builder turns your goals into a tailored, structured plan — complete with a detailed report you can study, save, and bring to a qualified provider. It's a starting point for an informed conversation, not a prescription.
Find a qualified, verified practitioner. When you want to work with a real clinician, our provider directory lists peptide-literate telehealth providers. "Verified" means we've confirmed an active professional license and that they offer peptide consultations — it's an honest check, not a paid endorsement, and we never quietly rank doctors for money. You'll also find a plain walkthrough of what working with a provider actually looks like: consult, labs, prescription, and ongoing monitoring.
Use the reconstitution and dosing calculator. Mixing and dosing research peptides correctly is where a lot of people get tripped up. Our calculator does the math for you — exact units, every time — so you're not guessing.
Buy from sources we've actually vetted. When you're ready to purchase research-use-only peptides, our "Where to buy" page points you to a short list of vendors we've personally vetted. Every one has to clear the same bar: manufactured in the US, third-party lab-tested for purity, transparent certificates of analysis posted publicly, and real customer service.
Start at the beginning with Peptides 101. New to all of this? Our beginner education series covers the fundamentals — what peptides are, how they work, what's safe to wonder about and what isn't — with no assumed background.
How we stay honest
Trust is the whole product, so we protect it with a few hard rules:
We grade evidence rather than hype it, and we say plainly when something is experimental or unproven. We disclose our commercial relationships openly — some of the vendors and partners we point you to give us an affiliate commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. We tell you that up front, because radical transparency about our commercial ties beats pretending we have none, and those commissions are part of what keeps this educational resource free. And we keep a clean wall between information and advertising: a verified badge or a featured slot is always clearly labeled and never a silently higher ranking.
A personal note from the founder
I'm Rick Gold. I trained and worked as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner, and for years I did the one-on-one work — digging through people's labs, their history, and their day-to-day habits to figure out why their health was off instead of just quieting the symptoms.
I loved that work, but it has a ceiling: you can only sit across from so many people. The Optimal Health Manifesto is my answer to that — a way to put the same honest, evidence-first approach into the hands of anyone willing to take their health seriously, whether the two of us ever speak or not.
I built this because I got tired of watching good people get sold hype on one side and talked down to on the other. You're sharper than both of those camps give you credit for. My job here is simple: hand you the real information, clearly organized, with the marketing stripped out — and trust you to take it from there.
You don't control everything about your health. But you control far more of it than you've been led to believe — and this site is about the part that's yours.
